The Silicon carbon steel blades are very strong and have excellent resistance to bending. While the black tip means there is no risk of flaking and guaranteed accuracy it retains the dimensional accuracy of the machined tip and means no chromium deposits in the environment and no weakening due to hydrogen release during the chromium plating process.
